Retreat Within Before The Fire: Chapter of My Forest

Hello Beautiful Essences,

This is more of a chat than my traditional blog posts. It's a raw post. One of my most raw posts. There is no editing. No grammar check. No prompts. Just me having to get what is inside out through this keyboard.

These past few weeks I have done some mega essence searching inside. So this blog will be a song blog. The song is "Chapter of The Forest" by Trevor Hall.

Chapter of My Forest.....

"I greet my Lord by the river side, It hits me almost every time"

I don't know about you but I have fallen in love with Spirit again. It took me going back to one of my sacred places to remind myself of how much I love Spirit and how much it means to me. This past week I was at the same spot where I found out that one of my ancestors moved to the Spirit Realm. Hara hara Narmada.

"Beauty runs so deep, that it's hard to sleep at night. This is the chapter of the forest"

Being connected to this spot reminded me how massive and big Spirit is. How the Universe is massive and how connected I can be to that source if I choose to be. I sat on that porch at that spot in awe of the beauty of how one of the hardest deaths in my life was a turning point for me. Spirit heard my prayers and intentions loud and clear. They allowed him to pass quickly and not suffer too much in the end. Thanks Tribe. Hara hara Naramada.

"Every line, and every chorus. From my heart it comes a pouring."

Beautiful Essence. For me when Spirit enters my heart fully, without boundaries, I can not help but cry. They are so powerful and beautiful. My human body can not handle the beauty that enters my body. It is an experience where I think that my heart will rip out of my chest, in a good way. The flood gates open and the rain starts to come down my cheeks. Hara hara Naramada.

"Into every single melody. Flame without the smoke"

I am a Lightworker and as I grow older, the more I fight it. No more. Now is the time to put this into overdrive. Not only have I come out of the closet with my Spirituality. It's time to embrace this life in more aspects of my life. Be the flame without saying a word, just show it! Hara hara Naramada.

"Harness all the poetry. I swear I'll never choke."

My voice tends to be smashed and I lash out in anger. No more. It's time to embrace my throat charka and really work on how I communicate with the world. My daughter is able to convey what is going on with little to no words. The least I can do it harness my voice and actions to reflect what Spirit truly wants for me in this world. Hara hara Naramada.

"Because I only of Naramada. Hara hara everyday"

Because I am here by the stars being in line. Do you fully understand how so many things had to happen for you to be alive? Let alone living today to write this? You are YOUnique and truly a gift to this world. Hara hara Naramada

I now learn from the wind and rain

I am reminded of that connection similar to Spirit when I was in high school. That balls to the walls, no boundaries, full release from all of this world. Just falling to my knees. Head to ground. Chanting to Spirit for the next move. Please show me my path. Hara hara Naramada. 

"Yeah, and in my dream I heard the lesson. Of the vault that holds the heavens in. Sow now I gaze upon the crowd, yeah."

Here you go Beautiful Essence. I heard your prayer. Now are you ready to follow it? Oh your in fear? Tell your Spiritual Tribe on Gaia and they will help you push through that fear. What is the worst that can happen Lindsay? You won't die. So why fear? Hara hara Naramada.

"You see my woman she is stainless. Stood her at the base. Touch the face, all the Gods come out the mountain. Sweet embrace."

Another wave of the love from Spirit spreading from my chest into the rest of my body. The flood gates are beyond open and now my head and heart are still. There are no words, no feelings, no images that can express this peace that is swept into my body. I am reminded that I am love, provided for, and never fail in my Spirit's eyes. Each "failure" I experience, Spirit will use that experience to better show how massive and powerful they are. Hara hara Naramada.

"You see her song it can't be heard. Unless you let go of the world. So I laid it all down. And I behold what I heard."

Less is more. More is less. That statement now has new meaning. It's time to release the past life that I lived this lifetime. Why carry around shit from years ago that doesn't even matter today? Why panic about every little thing, when all I have is just today? I can only chance my actions in this moment. Can not change the past. And choose the path for the future. So what is your choice Essence? Hara hara Naramada.

Of the glory of their name, it's name, his name, her name, on whosoever name. Hara hara hara! Now is the time to stand up with PURPOSE. Now is the time to RELEASE all the fear. Now is the time for CHANGE. Now is the time! Now is the Time. Now is The Time. Now Is The Time.  Hara hara hara Naramada.

"L" is for Love: Self-Love

Hello Beautiful Essences,

This week I wanted to talk about Self-Love and what that looks like for me today.

Self-Love for me is very beginning of the journey of becoming the person I want to be today. It is the place where I understand if I do not take care of myself (self-care) and I do not love myself (self-love) then I spin into a place of darkness and depression.

The reason why I brought up self-care with self-love is they are both linked together, however do not mean the same thing. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Self-Love is a form of Self-Care but not all Self-Care is Self-Love. For me this means that self-love can be affirmations of myself.

• **Lindsay you are beautiful** I sometimes struggle with this one today. 
• **Lindsay your stretch marks are beautiful** I birthed a child into this world. The stretch marks on my stomach are beautiful, regardless of what society says they are. I am a goddamn tiger and here me roar!
• **Lindsay you are worthy** I am worthy every day. I am worth the breath I inhale from the atmosphere. I am worthy to be in this world today

These affirmations can be both self-love and self-care. I am doing basic, "Let's change our thoughts, those thoughts will change my beliefs, those beliefs will change my actions."

Here are some actions for me is self-care: 

• brushing my teeth (be honest sometimes this is hard to do)
• putting on make-up (for me it's not necessary everyday to "doll up" but some days to get out of the house I need to)
• eating when I am hungry and stopping when I am full

Now don't get me the wrong way, these can be self-love because I am loving my body by taking care of it. 

So I hope you see how these two ideas can be lost and mixed up in my head. In turn this is what I do instead. I have a checklist of things that need to get done everyday. Here's the list for me & I encourage you to alter the list to your lifestyle: 

• shower 
• eat when hungry
• mediation (goal 15 minutes)
• do "Three Most Important Tasks" for my business 
• call a friend to say hi
• play with my Daughter
• kiss my husband 
• work if I work
• do three "Random Acts of Kindness" (this one can be hard some days)
• have an empty sink of dishes at the end of the day
• painting or any art things

More or less depending on the day's activities. Some days only one or two are done on this list. And the biggest form of Self-Love I can do for myself is remember this. I am only one person and if something does not get done today it is not the end of the world! There's always tomorrow and so that thing I missed today goes on the top of the list tomorrow. 

Self-Love and Self-Care has taught me that I am a mother to a 19 month old daughter. I am a wife. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am an employee. I am a co-worker. I work four amazing jobs (don't worry one is my business and one is a few days a month). I have more roles that I juggle through the day. And you know what? I am who I am and nothing more or less. And taking care of myself is sooooo important.

Journaling: Visual Verbal Journal

Journaling is a topic that is near and dear to me. When I was in high school my art teacher introduced me to the practice of Visual Verbal Journals. This practice has changed my life since.

What is a Visual Verbal Journal?

Glad you asked. It is just like it sounds. It is a journal that uses words and visuals to convey a topic or an idea in your head. The beauty of this type of journaling is there is no judgement. I mean that. No judgement. Just like a diary, the only judge is yourself.

"I" is for Incense: Intentioned Prayer and Meditation

Incense as I know it is an essential in my pagan practice. I use it as a form of prayer and meditation to the gods and goddesses.

The best part about it: it smells so good!

What is Incense?

They come in many smells from the popular Dragon's Blood to Baking Brownies (Wildberry Incense). There are many different brands you can choose from to buy incense from. You can make your own! The possibilities are endless of the possible scents you can have of incense.

The most recongizable brand is Wildberry Incense. They are sold all over the place. The most recent spot I found this brand that made me giggle was a shop called Five Below. You can do your shopping for that teenage niece of yours and pick up some incense for your pagan practice, all in one place!

I'm serious if you want a great laugh, over the next year see how many places you can find that sells incense. It's a running laundry list that makes me giggle in the checkout line when no one is looking.

Anyways for me Wildberry was a great starting place for my incense practice. It was not expensive and I could buy in bulk for cheap. At the local metaphysical store in my area they have a serious selection. I asked the owners and they said that Incense is one of their top selling items in the store, hints the hundreds of incense scents to choose from.

I moved onto Nag Champa and honestly this is the one constant in my incense practice. It is light and firm and I love the smell. The beauty of having an incense practice is A) overall they are cheap, so if you find one you do not like it's not a big deal and B) once you find one you like, stick to it! and buy in bulk.

I live with a family member who is sensitive to incense, so to be respectful I get creative with where and when I burn incense. I mostly do it outside on my back porch. I have a travel altar with an incense burner with it. So sometimes I burn one in the parking deck at my university. (Don't worry, Believe it or not I've never been asked by Campus Police if I was smoking anything illegal and burning incense to cover it up) Lol.

My Incense Practice: A Quick Summary

As I light a stick I put Reiki energy and an intent into the incense. This morning's intent was health (I am battling horrible allergies that resulted in bronchitis and upper respiratory infection). Prosperity and abundance for not just me, but an universal blanket intent. I am a firm believer that our thoughts create our reality, and this is most powerful way I can spread this intent into the world.

As the smoke rises into the sky I visualize my intent being spread throughout the world. Some days I travel in my mind's eye all around the world. Other days I sit there in silent meditation or listen to a guided meditation.

Today I journaled as the smoke rose into the universe. After the stick is gone (25-45 minutes depends on the brand, length, quality, etc.) I resume with my day. Some times I start the stick and walk away and let the universe do it's magick (WARNING: if you leave an incense stick alone and not properly make sure that it WILL NOT CATCH ANYTHING ON FIRE, and it does. You can not sue me for mentioning that I sometimes do that. Cause there is always a chance of catching something on fire.)

What Happens During a Psychic Reading?

Hello Lovely Essences!

I wanted to answer one of your most popular questions: "What happens during a psychic reading?"

This is such a great question and I am going to try and answer this the best way I can.

Before going into what happens during a reading, here is my understanding of what a psychic reading is. I have always understood that prayer is talking to Spirit and mediation is listening to Spirit. I see readings as a combination of the two. More mediation than prayer, but still a combination of the two.

As for me, I offer different communication methods for readings. I offer over the phone, skype, recorded videos, in person, and email. Each communication method is different, however the way the reading is conducted is pretty much the same no matter what.

What I do for a reading is start off my calling in sacred space, calling in all of my and who ever I am reading for angels, guides, and guardians to be present for the reading. Also to bring forth the highest good.

Current Email Options from Lindsay 

Reason for mentioning this critical point is, hate to break it to you Essence; some psychics out there who are not ethical and do not take into account the highest good for all. When you choose a psychic to get a reading from, do your research! Here are some quick how to's on picking a psychic to choose from:

• If they read at a shop in the local area, they had to "audition" for the job. I would trust that the store wouldn't hire just anyone to be a reader at the store.
• This is the same for psychic hotlines, there was a process to receiving the jig, the line would not hire just anyone to do the job.
• Check out their websites, check out if they invest in themselves with certifications, do you resonate with the energy they give off their site?
• Check out their Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Blog, etc. Do you like the message they convey? 

There is no way for me to tell you which person is right for you, but just like with every other major purchase in my life: It's all about Research and Background information!

After calling in Sacred Space, I look at the divination tools I have and see which one "pops" out. Now this is where each intuitive person is different. I use tarot and oracle decks, crystals, pendulum, and pen/paper as some of my divination tools. I have had a reading done just by ribbons!  Also there are psychics that do not use divination tools, they channel the information from Spirit for you. It just depends on who is doing the reading for you.

Goddess Cordelia

Here is this week's Goddess of the Week Post: Goddess Cordelia! :)

Goddess Cordelia is a British nature Goddess. She is connected with the fairies and flowers.  She is connected with the Earth cycle. She usually appears in May when the Earth is fertile and ready to plant for the year. She is a goddess connected with Beltane (May 1).

Her message for this week is to make an effort to go outside and be a part of nature. Start preparing for Spring because it is coming around the corner. Now is the time to start planning your spring garden. Don't forget the flowers along with the fruits and vegetables. A great resource for all gardeners is the "Farmer's Almanac" or http://www.smartgardener.com/ I also created a Pinterest board about Gardening 

Or it's the time to make a fairy house for your fairies! There are many ways to make a fairy house. Check out your local metaphysical stores to see if they have any classes to make one. Here in Atlanta, GA I know that Forever And A Day is hosting a Fairy House Workshop by Crystal Starshine on March 22, 2014 from 1-3pm.

Her main point for showing up this week is we've all been inside too much recently. With the colder weather we normally don't spend time outside. So bundle up lovely essence! Step out outside and connect with nature again. Hug a tree. Go to the river. Smell the flowers. Feel the moss between your toes. And mainly reconnect!

Passing On Of Love Ones

Hello Beautiful Essence!

I've been quiet these past couple of weeks due to life being life. My grandfather passed away January 26, 2014 and here are my thoughts of my life from the moment he went into the Hospice House January 22 till now.

I found out that my grandfather went into the Hospice House on Wednesday (1-26). I was working on homework for my Biological Archaeology class. I found really quickly that it is difficult to write critical summaries for academic journal articles, when the reality of my grandfather dying was sinking in. I had too many things starting to run through my head.

This is the point when the continuous prayer in my mind began. Throughout the rest of this blog post the prayers will be written like this: God, please make Papa as comfortable as possible during this time.

My family and I found out that he was dying from Liver Cancer in September 2013. In October 2013 my daughter Erica, one of my best friend's Kat, and I went on a road trip to see him one more time before his passing.

Since Erica has become a thought to my family. I have called my grandparents on a weekly basis. Every time I would call, if my Papa was awake I would give him an "Erica Update." He loved his great-grand-daughter with all his heart.

So flash forward to the week of finding out this was the end for my grandfather. I was about to go to my college classes that Thursday (1-23) and really did not know how to focus on my class work. My father was playing the idea of going to see him in hospice. 

Please, let me go to see him before he leaves. I need to see him before he leaves. I feel it in my bones that if we go down, he will die soon afterwards.

By the end of the day the decision of going happened. My Dad and I let for Florida that Friday at midnight. From Atlanta to Tampa Bay it is roughly an eight hour drive. All the angels in this world please keep my dad, myself, and this car we are driving safe on our trip. I'm glad I went with my dad because I drove when he needed the rest. I got to show up as a road buddy for him when he needed it the most.

When we arrived I changed clothes and went straight to the Hospice House. I did not prepare myself enough for what I saw. Now from me to you, I am not going to go into details. All I can tell you is this: "When you go to Hospice for someone, they do not look like the person you knew. And to be honest, I do not think you can ever be fully prepared for what you see."

Please let him die quickly and peacefully. I have never wished death on anyone, but I want him to transition to the other side quickly. 

I am not trying to make a huge political statement. I just saw that there really was nothing left for my grandfather except tell him that I loved him, kiss him on the forehead, and watch him pass onto the next stage of life. And that is what I did.

That Saturday and Sunday I gave him a final in person Erica Update. I did crossword puzzles with him. Took a nap in the room with him. And I told him good-bye. I told him it was ok to die. That we are all taken care of here on this physical plane.

Please let this be quick and peaceful. Please tell me that he hears us and knows that it's ok to let go of this physical world and move on to the next stage. 

On Sunday (1-26) I came to terms with trying a praying ritual to see if I could help push him to the other side. Around 1400 hours that afternoon I burned a black candle with the intent of "Letting Go" with a Rose Quartz and Blue Lace Agate crystal grid around the candle.

Later that night I did the second half of the ritual which was a white candle with the intent of "Acceptance." During the time of the candle burning the flame started to flicker for about ten minutes. Five minutes after it stopped flickering, I was given my cousin's phone and told by my father that his dad had passed on.

I was relieved, elated, and could finally take a deep breath since I arrived there.  

I learned in that moment, in my bones that there is truly more to life than the physical world. When someone leaved this physical form it is not the end, it is part of the cycle of our essence.

Maeve is from Celtic/Irish origin. She is known as the Fairy Goddess. She is connected with the birds and nature. If you were to vision her in your mind's eye today, think of a woman with a gold staff sitting on a throne. She would have birds whispering knowledge into her ear.

Her name is connected to the word, "meade"(alcoholic beverage). The reasoning behind this is she is "intoxicating" or she who intoxicates those around her. Her energy is strong and comes through with force. 

So my fellow Essence here is the message I am receiving from this Goddess for the upcoming week.

This week is full of high emotion. With Valentine's Day coming up on Friday, be sure to honor yourself during this week. Listen to what your body needs, whether it be food, water, or natural desires. Honor what it needs Essence. But word of caution: There is a give and take to every act done in this world. Karma can be a bitch, so be mindful of the actions you take this week.

Also remember to own your responsibility of the energy you bring into the world. Being a person who is knowledgeable of the energy you emit from your body, there will be moments this week when you will have to practice on checking in with where you are at emotionally. As Yoda says in Star Wars, "The Force is strong with this one." Your energy Essence can be strong and over bearing.

All in all the main point for this week from Maeve is to be mindful of your actions.

First Deck Ever

Hello Beautiful Essence!

I wanted to write a quick post. I've been M.I.A for the past two weeks and needed to write something. (Don't worry I have a few posts coming up that will explain some of the madness; my grandfather passed on and I have gotten the tri-fecta Mono, Flu, and Strep)

Anyways, that's besides the point of this post. Just wanted to give a quick update.... here's the main point:

This was a day that looking back on, I can not believe that I didn't see my intuitive ways then. 

There was five of us art students who went with our art teacher to the High Museum our senior year. Our goal was to pick one artist that we enjoyed and connected with and write a paper on that artist.

While going through the Museum, I found one artist that I fell in love with. No joke, even to this day I still have an "Art Crush" on this woman. Her name is Pamela Colman Smith.

Her art showed something different than everyone else that day. 

Her art pieces was a mix of the surreal and visions from spirit. Looking back I can see that Pixie (her nickname) used art as a medium of getting those visions on paper. I completely and utterly connected with what they were saying.

There was an original deck that she made on display there. 

I did not spend as much time with the deck (at the time I was a full blown Catholic and Tarot represented in my mind at the time The Devil). They were beautiful and ~*very chatty*~. I remember being creeped out being around the deck. They had been used and loved and very chatty about the world. They were beautiful and hope I get another chance to the see them in the future. 

 

So when we were leaving I was in the gift shop. I wanted something by Pixie and all I could find was the Rider-Wade Deck. 

 

I took a leap of faith and bought the deck. I still have the deck. It is a reminder that the choices we make in life, even the small ones; Make a Difference.

 

I am humbled how Spirit gives me messages that I do not notice at the moment. 
However it sets into motion how we are merely players in this game of life. The best part is I'm ok with that ;)

 

 

Here is Natasha Bedingfeild's song Touch. The Lyric of the Bridge towards the end of the song sums up perfectly how I feel looking back on this experience in my life.

Every choice we make
And every road we take
Every interaction
Starts a chain reaction
We're both affected when we least expect it

Goddess Mary Magdalene

From the Doreen Virtue "Goddess Guidance" Oracle Deck

Here is this week's Goddess of the Week! Mary Magdalene!

Who is Mary Magdalene? Well to be honest with you, almost every person will have a different answer. For me I see her as a loving and caring woman who stuck by Jesus through thick and thin. She is mentioned in the Bible at the crucifixion and the resurrection. Catholics have her feast day on July 22. Christian Mystics believe her to be Jesus wife and spiritual partner. She was meant to bring the feminine side of the church, but it did not happen because of the dominant male views at the time. 

So what should you get from that? Not sure, but Mary Magdalene is seen as a loving and caring woman. Who no matter what will love and be there for you till the end of time.

The message I am receiving from this card is congratulations on your committing to your goals this year. Mary Magdalene is extremely proud of you this week. She is your cheer leader! She is there to cheer you on and give you a huge hug when you need it. 

Do not forget that you are loved. That you are provided for. And that you are not alone.

Goddess White Tara

Hello Beautiful Essence :)

I wanted to let you know that I am honored and blessed that you are reading this. (Yep you!) It's awesome to see others checking out and relating to my stuff. So don't forget to comment below or email me to let me know what you think :)

This upcoming week is going to be a doosie for me. I am starting my last semester of classes on Tuesday. I also am taking a CEP (Certified Ethical Psychic) course for the next 3 months. So when I say this is exactly where I am at this week. I am not joking.

I am reminded that I am uber sensitive and need to act accordingly to not be in that hole of fear, worry, and ego.

This week's Goddess of the Week is White Tara

~Just like before, I do not own the Goddess Guidance Oracle Deck~

She is known as the "mother of liberation". The Buddhist Goddess Tara represents the virtues of success in work and achievements. There are many aspects of Tara. This week is about White Tārā. She is also known for compassion, long life, healing and serenity.

Now is the time to remind yourself that you are where you are today. Do not stress and overwhelm yourself with these major issues in your head. 

Do not forget beautiful essence that you have people in your life to ask questions to. Whether it is for help, guidance, or just an ear to hear what is going on. Do not forget that.

The major thing that is coming through this card today is "You are not alone, sweet pea." What a gift, knowing that no matter what, being in that ucky place today is by choice and I do not have to dwell in it. 

The other major message I have for you is to delegate your stuff! I am not Wonder Woman nor do I claim to be. So I need to ask my business team for help where and when I need it. All the way down to asking my hubby to help me with our Little Missy, even though he's done all the care taking that day for her.

This week's Goals: Breathe, Release, Recognize, and Delegate

 Prayer to White Tara: Guide myself to quiet the inside to heal and rebuild today.

Goddess Nemetona

I have been praying and here is something that has come to my attention. For myself I need to connect more with the Goddess. So as I take my journey to connect with her, I'm bringing you along for the ride beautiful essence.

I will be posting a Goddess of the week from Dorren Virtue's Goddess Guidance Deck.  ~I do not own the deck, however the image is one I took. I do not own the deck, nor to I claim the cards as my own. Please do not sue me for copyrights.~

This week's Goddess is Nemetona

Nemetona is a Celtic Goddess. Her name from the Celtic root nemeto- means sacred places. So this week's theme is connect and create these sacred places. 

 

The message I get when I receive this card is I am lacking in connecting with Spirit. So this week is the time to find that sacred space again. It's time to dust, clean, and smudge that place. 

 

It also means throughout my day create a sacred place even when I am not in front of my altar. I am a cashier at a grocery store and I find that the store's restroom to be a sacred place when I am working. When I am out of balance inside, I ask to go to the restroom and pray there. 

 

As a working college mommy, wife, and college student I am rarely home. So I have created a travel altar. So where ever I am I can pull out my bag of crystals, smudge mist, and animal totem. Smudge the space around me, get grounded, and have my sacred objects.

 

I am reminded by Nemetona that a scared space is something that can be as formal or informal as I want it to be.

Prayer to Nemetona: Please show me my sacred places today to reconnect with Spirit this week.

A Little Introduction of Who I Am Beginning 2014

Hello Beautiful Essences!

I wanted to formally introduce myself in case you do not know who I am and what I am all about.

My stats:

• My name is Lindsay Liistro and I am a mother to a wonderful 14 month old daughter named Erica. I am a wife to the sexiest man I know.

• I am a college student who will be graduating in July 2014. 



I stress and freak out over papers, exams, and deadlines.



• I work two part time jobs. 
• Live by a budget (most days).
  
• I have financial insecurities, at this moment live almost pay check to pay check (writing a blog post in February 2014 on working on manifesting the flow of money in one's life)

And here is the kicker and why I am here blogging about my thoughts: I am to the core a spiritual thinker.

      This is the place for me to put down what I think and feel, honestly because I am tired of my guides yelling at me to spread news of the Light in this world.  

I adore reading spiritual books like Sera Beak's The Red Book: A Deliciously Unorthodox Approach to Ingiting Your Divine Spark or Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life.

I search the inter-webs for more information on various unconventional spiritual topics.

I am a pagan. I believe in many aspects of various traditions. For example deep down I believe that Jesus is real, he's an ascended master and I do pray to him. I also have a special relationship with the Goddess Isis and Goddess Kali. I pray with the moon cycles and celebrate Wicca holy days.

I spend time on various social media platforms connecting to others who are like myself.

I am gifted oracle and tarot reader. I am a Reiki practitioner. And this 2014 year is going to be a huge year growth for me:

• certifying myself through Starshine Healing Academy of Psychic Development
• becoming a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner
• graduating college with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology

So through prayer and meditation I have been guided to create a business to share my spiritual gifts and information I have collected over the years. Everlasting Essence officially into this world March 2013.

~The name "Everlasting Essence" came to Lindsay through many conversations with others and during a Meditation with Spirit. It's the idea that every single person has this everlasting essence inside themselves and getting in touch with that essence is one of our main purposes in this physical realm~
